HOPE Center DC hosts event educating local students with White House interns

In line with President Obama’s priority for innovation and entrepreneurship as stated in his State of the Union Address, Operation HOPE DC hosts event and to engage White House interns and the Howard business students as HOPE Corps volunteers. The event, which will educate over 50 local high school students in financial literacy, and innovation will take place Saturday from 12:15-3:00 at 2509 Good Hope Road, S.E. in Washington DC.

Operation HOPE VP Leo Cablayan selected to speak at Town Hall Teacher's Conference

On Friday February 4, HOPE Market Vice-President Leo Cablayan will speak at the “Full Steam Ahead” teacher’s conference held at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.

The conference will speak to best practices in education. Cablayan will speak on Operation HOPE’s partnership with Bank on the West and how HOPE’s Banking on Our Future program can inspire students and support teachers.

Breaking News: Operation HOPE Announces Partnership with MasterCard Worldwide to Support Economic Empowerment and Financial Literacy

Today Operation HOPE announced a five-year partnership with MasterCard Worldwide to support the nonprofit's overall mission to promote financial literacy and economic empowerment to individuals across the nation and worldwide.

HOPE Founder John Bryant said, “I believe there is much more that the payments industry can do to help educate consumers on the use of electronic payments and which solutions are best suited to help them achieve financial independence and realize their potential, for example, I remember as a young man trying to become an entrepreneur how a few well managed credit cards also helped me launch, bridge and grow many of my initial business ideas when traditional forms of capital were simply unavailable to me.”

HOPE kicked off its Entrepreneurial Training Program at the Oakland HOPE Center on January 12, 2011

Thirty-two people participated in the session eager to learn the nuts and bolts of running their own business following the newly revised HOPE small business training curriculum.

The 12-week Entrepreneurial Training Program is offered three times a year and is free of charge to individuals from communities surrounding the City of Oakland. Since 2005, the program has graduated over 170 individuals in the Bay Area and continues to provide technical assistance for previous program graduates and clients in the areas of business lending, credit, marketing and planning. HOPE expects to aid in the launching of over thirty new start-up businesses in 2011.

Union Bank Named Founding Sponsor of Operation HOPE's FIVE MILLION KIDS Initiative

With a  $500,000 commitment that will help promote youth financial literacy programs in schools, HOPE announced that Union Bank, N.A. is the founding sponsor of the FIVE MILLION KIDS Initiative (5MK) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. In a ceremony at the HOPE Oakland Financial Literacy Empowerment Forum on October 19, 2010, Union Bank Vice Chairman and Chief Retail Banking Officer Timothy H. Wennes and Union Bank Senior Executive Vice President, Community Banking, who also serves on HOPE’s National Board, Pierre P. Habis signed the agreement with HOPE Founder, Chairman and CEO John Hope Bryant.

HOPE Welcomes CoreLogic President and CEO Anand Nallathambi to National Board

Nonprofit Operation HOPE (HOPE) today announced that Anand Nallathambi, the president and chief executive officer of CoreLogic (NYSE:  CLGX), will join its national board of directors.

“Our relationship with Anand goes back several years,” said Operation HOPE President and COO Bill Walbrecher. “He has been an active supporter of HOPE, and now we are excited to have him help steward the organization as we continue to expand our suite of financial literacy services."

CoreLogic and its executives have been involved with HOPE since 2004 when CoreLogic operated as the Information Solutions Group, a subsidiary of The First American Corporation, for which Nallathambi served as president and chief operating officer.  CoreLogic became a separate company in June 2010.

Activist to speak at unity breakfast

Noted anti-poverty activist John Hope Bryant will serve as speaker at this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Breakfast, the Decatur-Morgan County Minority Development Association announced Saturday.

Bryant, who founded Operation Hope following the 1992 Rodney King riots, is both a leading financial literacy proponent and philanthropic entrepreneur. The mission of the group he founded is to eradicate poverty within a single lifetime.
